STEAMFITTER/PIPEFITTER THEORY- HOME STUDY COURSE
The MECHANICAL TRADES INSTITUTE has offered PIPE TRADES upgrading courses since 1979.

These courses are designed to help prepare the JOURNEYMAN LEVEL TRADES person for PROVINCIAL TRADESMANS QUALIFICATION EXAMS.

COURSES ARE OFFERED FOR THE PLUMBING, GASFITTING
(LEVEL 1 & 2) AND
STEAMFITTER/PIPEFITTER TRADES.

Definitions and Terminology - Fabricating - Fittings & Valves.
Steam & Hot Water Boilers & Systems - Steam Power.
Trade Science - Mathematics - Pipe Drawings.
Pneumatics - Air Circuitry - Fluid Power.
Special Purpose & Process Piping.
Basic Safety.

Each program consists of FIFTEEN HOME STUDY UNITS which are completed by the CANDIDATE and returned to MECHANICAL TRADES for review. This is followed by a course exam.

Home study is supplemented with telephone contact and where practical, meetings with each candidate.

A COURSE BINDER, NOTES AND MAIL ENVELOPES ARE INCLUDED IN EACH PACKAGE. EACH CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN APPLICABLE CODES AND TRAINING MANUALS.

I have worked at various levels in the pipe trades since 1952 and hold journeyman certificates in Plumbing, Gasfitting, Steamfitting, AWWA Cross Connection Control Specialist and AWWA Cross Connection Control Instructor.

During my time in the pipe trades, I spent several years estimating, teaching estimating and fifteen years teaching in a trades school college.
